How to downoad podcast in IE when right click disabled?

I'm on a library computer. The IT guy has totally disabled right click of the mouse. It's very frustrating because podcasts I wish to download assume you can right click to Save Link As... and just download the mp3 file. But I can't right click.

Anyone know a work-around?

Other things I cannot do include running any other browser, such as FF. Running any program from a USB etc..

It's pretty much IE and Notepad is all we get to use.

Wow, that's a tough one! Anything I could think of requires right click as a step, defeating the purpose! Images there may be a workaround, but files...

I hope someone comes up with something because I wracked my brain trying to think of something. Posted for the gurus, if anyone would know, it's our group.

hold down Left ALT+left SHIFT+NUM LOCK for about five seconds, click ok when prompted.



this will enable the keyboard mouse keys , making the + key the right click,

boohbah, would this be obvious to the library IT person, if it would be what would Miles have to do to reverse it?

I had thought of a registry value change, but regedit is probably off limits.

It sounds like Miles wants to save these downloads. What about left click and dragging the podcast to the optical drive to copy it? But then again Explorer is probably also off limits.

Miles, what about asking the IT guy if you could help him out with the PC's? He might relax the restrictions for you

It's likely the pc is locked down to prevent the ease of access settings too, but it is a great suggestion. If it is a smaller library, the librarian may help and download on a locked down machine. A Guy

For any direct link to a file, if you hold Alt then left click on it, it will download it rather than open it in the browser

Try it with this .reg file:

Left click on it and it will display the text in your browser, Alt+Left Click will download it.

Oops! I read it about another browser (can't remember which one), then tried it in Chrome and made the wild assumption that it was a global thing.

I think the easiest way and what Tom meant is to upload them to a cloud drive (SkyDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox etc.). It should work, as well as if sent as email attachments.

I understand, but won't left clicking them attempt to open them in the browser? He needs a save as option. I so rarely use IE, does it give the option to open or save as when clicking on a file such as a mp3?

No Bill; using a file on my own SkyDrive as an example, I open an object with left click, then left click the Download button followed by left click for Save or Save As:

No right click needed.

im pretty sure the ease of access stuff is locked down and possibly would need an admin account also, so its unlikely my idea would work.
worth a try though, and you just need to press the shortcut again to get to the options to reverse it.

i think maybe putting them in an email attachment would be the easiest way, if its possible to download email attachments to a thumbdrive

No probs . I do not know about other cloud services as I use SkyDrive exclusively but I assume they function about the same way.

It will only open in the browser if it's a filetype the browser supports - so for example, when you download Windows ISOs from DigitalRiver, they don't open in the browser, the files are saved to your computer. By zipping them up, it means the browser will download the files

Doubt he'll be able to unzip them. They'd need to be in mp3 format so he could just save to his player. A Guy
