I have a machine with Win7 pre loaded. I added a partition and restored XP to it.

I'd like to dual boot. I ran EasyBCD ver. 2.1.0.133. While booted in XP
I added Win7 leaving drive C:
I added XP leaving drive C:

I re-booted. No menu came up to select.

What am I doing wrong?

Win7 = Drive E:
XP = Drive C:

You want to return the System Active boot files to the 100mb System Reserved partition so that it manages the Dual Boot.

To do this, boot the Win7 DVD or Repair CD to mark the 100mb System Active boot partition Active, then run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots until Win7 starts.
Startup Repair
System Repair Disc - Create

Then install EasyBCD 2.02 to Win7 to Add XP: accept boot files, let it autocomplete drive letter, restart to Dual Boot menu.

Looking at your screenshot you don't appear to have an active partition.

Right-click the 100Mb System Reserved partition and choose "Mark as Active".

As you installed XP last it will have screwed up Windows 7's boot record so you'll need to run a repair as noted in the tutorial.

Thank you both...

That worked great. It's booting just fine now.

I don't understand why EasyBCD wouldn't install correctly from XP. If it isn't supposed to work from XP in this configuration why wouldn't EasyBCD produce a message explaining what I should have done.

Now that it does work I think I'm supposed to hide XP from Win7. How can I hide XP when I boot into Win7.

Thanks,
