How to ensure 64-bit 8.3 support? Win7 Pro SP1.

I suspect spaces in my paths are creating problems with the installation of 3rd party software and applications/packages for it. It is my understanding 8.3 support is enabled in Win7 by default but, I must perform my due diligence with this. I need to ensure this is set for each file and folder.

Thank you.

Didn't understand the problem you're having.
You can have spaces on the path on win 7.
By default windows install programs on C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) that have spaces on the folder name.
What I not recommend is to use special characters like ç or accent á, ä é etc

You mean the 8dot3 file convention used by MS-DOS and early Windows?

You can query the computer by using FSUTIL.exe at the cmd prompt. Here is the syntax:
Code:
FSUTIL behavior query disable8dot3
Typing this at the console produces one of the following outputs:
Code:
1 = dont create file names
2 = set 8.3 names on a per volume basis
3 = disable 8.3 names on all volumes.
