Hello,

Update MS14-068 Vulnerability in Kerberos Could Allow Elevation of Privilege (3011780)

trashed my computer, no recovery possible, had to restore system from full image backup.

I've changed the update setting from "automatic" to "notify only", but I want to also exclude this specific update from all future notifications so I don't accidentally allow it one day.

How do I do this?

You did the right thing. Now you need to check manually for the updates - in Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update.

Before installing anything, go thru the list of proposed updates and "hide" (right click on the update > hide) those that you don't want - then they don't come back. If you just deselect them, they will always come back at you.

Thanks, that update is now hidden. I'm happy that I didn't attempt to download this update after reading about the problems it is causing. Another bad one from MS on 11/18 was KB3000780 for Win 8.1 machines. I was not so lucky there. That update is definitely another one to hide.
