How to find facebook reg entries

I was joining Leo Notenbooms forum to answer a question yesterday and quite unknowingly subscribed to facebook (am usually very careful) - something I consider total piece of trash and I want nothing to do with it.

I did a system restore to before the event but still have the feeling it is lurking around because I am being pelted with ads on other stuff I have been looking at ie holiday accommodation and the occasional facebook requests.

Anyone have any ideas on how to root this piece of crap off my machine.

Hello Jack yes mate I did system restore as well as MBAM and SAS the only thing I haven't got to yet is run CCleaner.

Wow Jack just look at what that link found I have deleted all of those entries just one lingers and is attached to my Kaspersky for some reason will not let me delete it with admin and yet with admin still doesn't.

Going by the dates from your log; if it was my computer I would remove all Facebook with dates
6/7, 6/8, 6/9 2016.

The older ones have been there a long time and I presume have caused no problems.

This is what is on my system, which has never had anything to do with Facebook.

Jack I might try that on all my machines then because I have not been on facebook since about 1990 and then it was very briefly and out of naivety of what the crap was. The little incident the other day was sheer - not paying enough attention but anyway it will be interesting to see if I have anything on my new travel laptop here now.

Well I just tried this machien and found this lot - the first pic was everything and the second after I had deleted the majority it will not get rid of the one entry and curiously it is linked to my Kaspersky security so maybe certain sites are downloading this crap with or without knowing they are doing it??

What do you fellows think??

I think you don't need to worry about it, look at what it is and where it is.

It is a .png in your Kaspersky program files, I would bet it was put there on purpose by Kaspersky, look at the date.

I'm sure they have some sort of reason for doing so, either as a "Like Us" or some other similar reason.

Your assumptions are totally wrong. First off, Facebook is a website, not a software you install. You interact with it solely though your browser, like any other website, and it knows nothing about your computer and what do you have in it, much less the ability to drop files at will. That's simply not the way the web works.

Upong visiting a website, the only things the browser can ever save is in the cache, cookies and historial, nothing else can be read or write (leave plugins apart for the moment, that sometimes can escape this limitation). A few other local storage is also provided by browsers, but it's also of little relevance.

All the cleanup you need to do on your computer is to delete the cache, remove cookies and history at most. That's all you can do about your computer. Websites rely on data stored on their servers instead, so begin with logoff from there and try to delete your account. The extreme measure could be reseting your browser settings to delete any trace possibly used to track you (again, mostly irrelevant).

From the pictures, most files found lie precisely within the browsers private directory, likely the location that they place their cache. Other matches are also unrelated, just Facebook plugins for programs or likely embeeded banners for advertising in other software.

Yep I was assuming those were all pics added in by those different sites and I suppose KIS like every other man and his dog are attached to facelessbook in some way or other - just irritates me because I just don't want nothing to do with that crap, or indeed Twitter ad infinitum ad nauseum
