How to fix error message

I am at my wits end. I have tried to update Windows in order to reserve my copy of Windows 10 and have met nothing but frustration.

I have visited many Googled websites and the Windows support forums to try to fix whatever the problem is, all to no avail. I have attempted many if not all of the suggestions to fix the update problem and have gotten nowhere. I used "fix it", "SURT", loading updates one at a time, turning my computer on and off, SFC Scan, and others that I have forgotten. Most of the suggestions ran "looking for updates" that in one case ran for over 14 hours before I killed it.

I tried one last time to fix this problem. I ran "fix it" again and finally got a message that gave me a clue. However it told me that it could not fix it. Following is the message I received:

Windows Update error 0x8007370D(2015-08-20-T-06_49_06P) Not Fixed

What am I supposed to do? How do I fix it? Screen shot below and CBS file attached.

I'd really like to get this fixed.

Thank you,
Carlos

I guess I'll respond to my own post. I submitted the information requested in 'Windows Update Posting Instructions'. That was five days ago. As of this date there have been 178 views and no responses. I have had no communication from the moderators. I noticed, after the fact unfortunately, that this forum "is an independent web site and has not been authorized, sponsored, or otherwise approved by Microsoft Corporation."

Always remember to read the fine print. From the name and logo I thought I was accessing an"official" MS site. I hope the info I voluntarily submitted is not a means for hackers, spammers and the like to gain access to my computer.

Yes this is an independent website where volunteers offer their free time to help people solve PC issues. The fact that you've had no response means either a) nobody had any idea of how to solve your issue or b) it got buried in other posts and went unnoticed.

I can assure you that in no way can we (or anybody who visits this site) access your PC or any other personal info and you will definitely not be hacked or received any spam from signing up to this site.

Thank you, Boozad and Laybackbear, for that reassurance. I suspect my frustration level prompted me to post my own reply.

I am on the horn with MS support while I type this. Maybe they can find a solution. I realize now that you are volunteers and give up your time to help. That no one responded and believing I was on an 'official' site, did not help my attitude.

I will be back with an update:D and let you know if there was solution to this particular problem.

Thanks,

As promised here is my update. For those of you that remember Paul Harvey, here is "the rest of the story." After navigating through the maze of options at the Micro Soft site on Wednesday, Aug.26, I finally found a phone number to call. An automated message advised me to leave my phone number and someone would call within five minutes.

I left my number and they did call back within five minutes, but with another automated message asking me if I still wanted to talk to a rep. If 'yes' press '1', if 'no' press '2' and a rep would call me within ten minutes. I did and they did call back in ten minutes.

A very cordial and helpful gentleman with an accent heavier than Mt.Everest tried for an hour to solve the Windows Update problem. He conceded defeat and advised me that he was transferring me to a 'higher level' technician. I agreed. I assumed he meant within his office. Not so.

The phone connection was transferred to an automated message advising me that a technician would be with me shortly. After one hour of listening to that message (I had come this far and I wasn't about to give up), a human answered with a different accent. He was from the Philippines. Also very nice but he too, after and hour and a half with remote access to my computer, was not able to solve the problem. He bumped it up to 'higher level' technician who, luckily for me, this third technician sat in the next cubicle.

I did not speak with this third 'higher level' technician. I only conversed on the chat box through the remote access. After five, yes five, more hours of watching my mouse dance across my screen like a nervous fly opening and closing files, jumping from one program to another, he gave up.

He/she told me that he would have to schedule a 'higher level' technician to call me at a later date and devote/dedicate all his time to my problem. We agreed to between 10am and 12am, (PST), Friday,Aug28th, 2015.

Well, Friday, 10am-12am, came and went. No one called. And that, is "the rest of the story."

I might just drive to Redmond. It's only a couple of hours from my house. If I could spend seven plus hours on the phone to people across the Pacific Ocean, I might as well drive to Redmond.

And, I'll post something like this on the MS Community Forum. Maybe I'll be censored. Then, I know I'll be driving to Redmond.

Good Night.

The CheckSUR tool is supposed to be able to fix this problem...

This error is one from the registry - where the path-related entries are missing required data for crosscheck purposes.
Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

Eaglecap, is your ultimate goal to upgrade to Windows 10? If so follow Step 3 of this tutorial at our sister site TenForums Windows 10 - Upgrade Installation - Windows 10 Forums

I want to reserve a copy of Windows 10. Ultimately I will install it. Heard to many horror stories to date and want to wait till things settle down before I install it. But to reserve copy, the instructions I read required complete updates to Widows 7 which I have been unable to do.

Thank you, Boozad. I have downloaded the file.

I do indeed want to thank all of you that have viewed this post and have allowed this old geezer an opportunity to rant.

Surprisingly, I received a call from a Microsoft rep on Saturday and have re-scheduled a phone call for today, Monday. We will see what happens.

An aside: the wife and I will be in Scotland for three weeks attending a wedding and visiting relatives, but I will monitor with my laptop.

Thanks again

Afraid not - it didn't include the CheckSUR.log file produced by the tool.
