Solved how to format partition with old windows on it

I have two OS's on the c drive. One partition (Win7) is fine and working but the other partition has another Win7 OS on it that is not fine. I accidentally loaded a second time on the wrong partition. Can not figure out how to format to erase that. I remember in the Win7 install that there is an early screen where I might be able to do that but don't know if it will erase an OS. And if I will screw things up again. What to do?

go into computer management, and under storage, click disk management.

There you will see your C drive with 2 partitions. Provided you know which partition to delete, you would RIGHT-click on it and click format. You would still have 2 partitions, but I think you can shrink it or something back to the regular patition.

Now, I believe the partition with the win7 that you are using will say something different than the other partition, but as it is past 2 here, i may have to look up information for you tomorrow, provided someone else doesn't come by and clarify my nonsense

For everyone that answered my emails: BIG THANKS.
Everything is working fine now.
Win 7 disk works much better than 3 rd party partition programs, which caused some of the problems. Even though conceptually, working on a partition that did not have the OS on it, should have left the other partition fine, afterwards the C drive would not work correctly "currupted partition".
I tried a few of the suggested programs and in the end the only one that did the job cleanly was...surprise, Windows 7 disk.
Having backed up anything important saved the day as usual. I would make it mandatory (if that were possible) that everyone make frequent images of their C drive and did backups.
All input was helpful and appreciated.
