How to get RAM upto Speed?

ello,
all rightie i created a thread like a week or two ago about a similar thing but decided not to revive a dead thread.....
so what it is, is that i have some Kingston HyperX 1066 DDR2 ram sticks in my pc but only an E1400 which has a FSB of 800. I was talking to a Guy at PC Gallery and he said that i could up my FSB on my CPU. does anybody know how i can do this?

I would watch these videos on the EP45-UD3P motherboard overclock. This guy has done a good job. All you have to watch are parts 1-3 and it will give you some basic knowledge about the BIOS settings. Yours will be different but the idea is the same. I had to bump my voltage up on my RAM to get it running correct. Good luck!

Hi brayway......

if you want to just up your RAM speed from 800mhz to 1066mhz, you can do this in the BIOS by entering the ''Advanced options'' setting the AI to ''manual'' & altering the ''RAM divider'' or ''RAM frequency''

you should be able to do this without any voltage boost.

the system is defaulting your RAM to 800mhz with a 1-1 ratio with your CPU, just change it & away you go.....

if you want to OC the CPU also & keep the 1-1 ratio then you'll probably also want to look at THIS

well... i think its a ''frequency'' adjustment so you'll see the listed ''mhz'' options, just select the closest one to 1066mhz & reboot.. (i have the P5K & im sure its the same BIOS)

also did you up the voltage on the CPU at all while upping the FSB..??

hmm...... is this for your CPU..??

i dont understand what the values you posted would have relation to..??

are you seeing a ''%'' icon next to these values..??

yes they are for the CPU and it is listed in the options for CPU Voltage it has the option for +50 +100 +150 and no % sign

well..... ive never seen VCORE listed in that way before :sarc:, i cant really recommend a setting for you as i have no idea how much ''realtime'' voltage it will push to the chip....

you'll have to just begin a ''trial & error'' campaign, make a note of your current VCORE via CPUZ, then select the ''+50'' option, then head back to CPUZ & see how much the VCORE has raised by.... this will give you a rough idea of how much voltage each value will give you over the stock settings...

hmm..... i think the ability to OC was added to your board as an after thought, that doesn't mean it cant....it just means you cant refine as well as other boards..

you probably wont be able to go much past stock with this board, im guessing you wont have proper RAM adjustments either....

i had an ASROCK board like this, it had OCing features much like your own & i was only able to pull a 200mhz boost over the stock clocks....

your chip has a x10 multi though, so you may be able to push it a little......

grab a new board if your interested in OCing.....

yea this board was one that i just got to get away from ddr1 RAM LOLz
so far i have OC's from 2.0 to 2.86 but as soon as i hit 2.9 the OS BSOD's and if i goto 3.0 it doesn't even POST but i will eventually get a new board but i'd rather a new CPU first.
