How to get rid of IE9 message 'Add-ons currently disabled'

After having re-set my Internet settings (as part of trying to resolve an issue with not being able to load pictures on Facebook), now a message comes up every time I open a new tab in IE9, saying 'Add-ons currently disabled'.
How do I get rid of that message?

Hello Lars and welcome to Seven Forums.

If the 'Add-ons currently disabled' message you're receiving is in a gold and white bar at the bottom of your screen/monitor, that would be the IE9 Notification Bar. It cannot be permanently turned off. But you may be able to prevent the notification from appearing by either increasing or decreasing the display time as described in the fourth FAQ. (Even though the FAQ talks about a different message, you should still be able to use the steps for changing message display time.)

If this doesn't help you might consider returning IE9 to its default settings. (Personally, I wouldn't change anything on my computer just to satisfy some Facebook requirement.) Or you could try the troubleshooting steps from one of the Forum experts.

Yes, it is the 'gold and white bar' that I am talking about. It is already set to the minimum time to display (5 seconds). I do not have a problem with the bar as such for some messages, the problem is just the message the add-ons are disabled which I started to get when I had re-set the IE9 setting. I did not get that message before.

Furthermore (the above being about my desktop), on my laptop I am also running IE9, but I do not get the message there about Add-ons being disabled when I open a new tab.

Did you make the same IE setting changes on the laptop as you did on your desktop?

I haven't changed anything on the laptop, only on the desktop where I reset the settings (as advised to make it possible to upload photos to Facebook - it did not help by the way).

As marsmimar is pointing out..change your IE settings on your desktop to the exact same settings that's on your laptop. See if that doesn't get you fixed up.

Whatever settings you originally changed should be changed back to what they were. If that doesn't help, or if you don't remember what settings you changed, I would suggest using the tutorial provided in my first post to reset your IE to default settings.
