How to identify current user when remotely accessing computer

I use "Teamveiwer" to access my daughters computer. I can and do this, sometimes, unattended. On occasion I see one of the children, in their teens, viewing inappropriate content. But I don't know which child. They each have their own account that are PW protected. I would like to place, on their screen, something that can't be removed that identifies which user account is being used. This item should ALWAYS be on top of anything else on the screen and cannot be removed except by the administrator, their mother.

Don't know if this is helpful, but if you can access the computer remotely, the command "WHOAMI" will tell you who is currently logged in.

I looked up the command and tried to run it. Whatever the result was it didn't last on the desktop long enough to read.

Hi,

Sorry, my bad, I should have said to open a command prompt first.

Start, Run, cmd <enter>
Then type whoami

This gives you Computer name and username.

If you just want username you can type

set | find "USERNAME"

Exit to close the command prompt.

If you click on the Start Orb the user name should be displayed on the right top of the second column, right above "documents".

I usually rename my computer to the name of the user who is logged on. This can be done only in administrator mode but does tell you who is logged on. or you could run qwinsta as administrator which tells you everyone logged on whether from console or rdp.

Hello Bill,

In addition, you could open the Task Manager on the PC, and click on the Users tab to see what users are currently logged in.

All the suggestions are good ones, however. I wish to do this surreptitiously. I don't want the user to know I'm doing it. Just a flash of the username will do.

I guess you have your reasons for this and as a father (and grandfather) I can understand why you want to do it. However, this is not the way I would do it. To face one of my children or grandchildren with the fact that I know that they are doing something I regard as wrong, would I am sure bring about a confrontation that would possibly harm our relationship.

I would bring them all together and say that I know that one of you is doing this and I would like it to stop, please. If it does end the problem, you have not confronted one person who must love you as a father, but you have reached them. Not my business to interfere in your family life I know, but you put it out here and I am merely saying what I would do in your place.

Good luck with what is a very sensitive family problem.
