How to Increase Ram Without Using Bclk?

I'm using Turbo Mode on my Asus P7P55D-E Deluxe. Set at 7, 6, 5, 5. CPU is running where I want it. Hits 3.74 when I need it to.

The ram though is still running at 1600. How do I get it higher without using Bclk?

What if I wanted to increase Turbo Mode. Would I go 8,7,6,6? Or 7,7,6,6? Does it matter?

What do you mean, increase RAM? Are you referring to speed? You should never run your memory faster than it is designed for. You can however, tighten the timings if the RAM permits this (e.g. 8-8-8-24 sometimes can be tightened to 7-7-7-20 or better. test with MemTest86+).

When I first put this system together I upped the cpu using bclk. As I did the ram frequency (think that's what it is) went uo also. Got it from 1600 to around 1800.

Now I'm using 'turbo mode' & the ram frequency is still at 1600. Memory is Corsair CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 8gb.

I am a clomplete noob when it comes to memory & timings but I'll see if I can figure out how to lower the timing from 8-8-8-24 to your suggested 7-7-7-20. Thanks.

Seriously! You don't really need to go beyond that, that was pricey enough RAM as it is IMO not worth risking frying without a good reason, and you haven't given one.
That system of yours should be screaming fast as it is, look at mine, it's much worse and still fast.
My motherboard has heavy BIOS tweaking ability, but if I do ANYTHING to try and tweak, I am BSOD'd on every boot, what a tease, tis ok, still got it running extremely well.

To go along with the good advice thus far:

Increasing the RAM speed in MHz is not going to get you any significant real-world performance boost. Lowering the latency (like jebuchanan said) will.

The speed of the RAM bus is not going to be the bottleneck on any modern system such as yours. Getting the RAM to do more per cycle (lower latency, again) is probably what you want for general use. You'll notice that the most expensive RAM is the stuff advertised with lowest latency ratings.

For extreme overclocking, loosening the RAM timings (higher latency) might give you some extra headroom and allow you to hit a higher CPU overclock. Depending on what type of programs you run, that might be a good approach. Like Faladu said, your system is already smoking fast. Other than bragging rights, what more do you want? :)

(Speaking of bragging rights, unless you have an endless cheap supply of liquid nitrogen, someone else who does is going to own the rest of us anyway.) :huh:

Right on prof, I wish I had his system, my wife's PC is getting flaky and she gets mine as hand me down, but the possibilities out there now, I'm beside myself trying to decide.

I was thinking of just replacing hers, but each bump in price CPU wise just drives me batty and goes way faster than mine. :rolleyes: Although the 5850 stays with me, she gets my old 8800 GTS or 7950GT which she won't even notice/appreciate with what she does with a PC.

Good point. Though even this isn't going to yield significant gains over raw processing power.

The seek time alone gives you a pretty good performance boost.

Memory Frequency Guide - Nice guide and it has some good info, just remember the settings are based on an EVGA MB. Other boards and BIOS's may vary in their settings.
