Hi

I would recommend ;

1. Backup all important data to an external medium ( USB HDD, USB stick or DVD ).

2. Create "Windows 8.1" recovery drive in case you ever needed to re-install 8.1 again.

Recovery Drive - Create with USB Flash Drive in Windows 8

3. Follow instructions from the below tutorial to do a clean install of "Windows 7".

Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7

Also refer - https://neosmart.net/wiki/disabling-secure-boot/

https://neosmart.net/wiki/enable-legacy-boot-mode/

Btw, installing "Windows 7" 64 bit is highly recommended as it is easier to get drivers for 64 bit versions than 32 bit counterparts. In addition to that x64 supports both legacy and UEFI installs.

Also please update the system specs with the exact make and model of your laptop ( ie, HP 15-006TU ).

Hi

I have successfully installed "Windows 7" on several HP 15 models ( slightly different than yours but belongs to same family ).

Here is an HP official guide on how to disable "SecureBoot" on their machines so "Windows 7" or "Linux" disc can be booted.

HP Notebook PCs - Cannot Start Notebook Computer From a Bootable CD or DVD | HP® Support

Disabling "SecureBoot" will allow your machine to start booting "Windows 7" setup in UEFI mode. I would also recommend creating a USB install media using "Rufus" as i am not familiar with "ISO2Disc". Please read option two of the below tut.

Rest of the installation procedures are covered in the "Eightforums" link in my previous post.

Hi

I just remembered that you need to perform some additional steps to create a UEFI "Windows 7 x64" USB install media. Those steps are covered in a revised version of the tutorial posted in "Eightforums". Otherwise, Windows 7 install USB won't boot in UEFI mode.

UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows

After creating the install media using "Rufus", please refer step 11 of UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows

Those steps are not required to install "Windows 7" in legacy/MBR mode. To install "Windows 7" in legacy mode on HP computers, enable "Legacy Support" on the "Boot" tab after disabling "SecureBoot". One drawback of this is during the install ( partitioning step ) you are required to delete all existing partitions and re-partition the HDD to initialize it under MBR scheme.

Are you saying you want to keep Windows 8 and install Win7 alongside it on another partition you created?

If so this is sometimes possible but requires disabling Secure Boot in BIOS setup first to see if Windows 8 will even run without it, since Win7 cannot be installed with it enabled.

Then try booting the UEFI installer you created using Rufus with the exact pictured settings shown in Option One of tutorial Anshad linked. The settings may jump around when you add the ISO so guard against this.

You must boot the UEFI installer as a UEFI device from the BIOS boot menu, which is ESC on HP.

If install fails then report back all settings choices in BIOS setup for CSM, Legacy BIOS, any UEFI or EFI settings whatsoever on all tabs. Pictures are helpful.
