I have been trying constantly for nearly a week to install windows 7 on my spare Dell Inspiron 15 3511. My main problem is that the graphics I have make the start screen glitch (I have tried uefiseven, I'm not amazing with instructions and cant decipher how to pull of 4-7, plus I see a restart prompt before I'm stuck at the start screen.) I also cannot run Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit. I am running this ISO file of windows 7 (Ultimate) so I dont have to do as many patches. Please help me, I am so tired and I would like to use windows 7.

Details of my Dell Inspiron 15 3511
- BIOS version 1.29.0
- 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz, core count 2
- Current OS: Windows 11 x64
- Intel(R) UHD Graphics
- No Legacy/CSM implementation on motherboard
- Option for AHCI/NVMe

I did really hard work on my Dell OptiPlex 7070 i5-9500, trying to install Windows 7. but failed and finally I gave up.

Your Dell motherboard (same Dell) supporting 11th (newer than my 9th). hence it's reasonable to guess, unlikely to install Windows 7 on it.

you can still try. If successful, please post the procedure, I can follow it to test my Dell once more.

my previous work (I asked canonkong for help)
Install Windows 7 on Dell OptiPlex 7070 SFF i5-9500

you may try Windows 8.1 install first.
If Windows 8.1 install no problem, then install its graphics driver, either canonkong or SDI method, if successful, Windows 7 install is likely to go through. (just need a right way)

my Dell 7070 failed to pass above test. on Windows 8.1, whatever I tried, couldn't get its graphics driver installed. all failed except basic display adapter. hence my sentence is no way to install Windows 7 (as Windows 8.1 install failure).

Okay, I'll try that. I hope it works for your sake and mine.

Dell provided better Win 7 support in their BIOS for the 7050 and earlier.

However, I'm still having difficulty getting past the 7 installer's generic missing driver for CD/DVD. Elsewhere, some posts suggest it's not really a missing driver. Instead, the win 7 installer is misunderstanding the system resources (like viewing a fixed drive as a removable drive, therefore, "missing driver").

Can be caused by missing usb3 drivers therefore it cant see the usb stick and cant find the installation files.

Did you use the dell installation media for that machine ?

For my install I only used the USB 2.0 ports. The older Dells have both, and this is incidental to their native support for Win 7.

If unplugging the second hard drive doesn't work for me, then I'll try using the Dell ISO instead of the Win 7 DVD.
