How to keep the original date of a file created as is when it's copied

To me if a started a file a week ago be it a Word Document, or whatever then last week is when it was created. If the day after I do something to that file than that day is the date when that files has been changed, or as Windows puts it, 'modified'.
What bothers me is if I now make a copy of this file, a simple cut and paste, for example, its Properties will now tell me that the file was 'created' today. Well NO it wasn't created today it was only copied today. And that though this newly copied file may have been 'created' today that is misleading. To me very much so. Let's face it should the original file be deleted for whatever reason there is now no evidence as to when this file was actually begun (unless there is actual text within the file stating so) only when it was last accessed or last modified. Files are moved from one folder to another or to another subfolder or to another computer all of the time.
Doesn't anyone feel something is wrong with this? It is something that has bothered me since the beginning of time. Anyhow, is there a way of stopping windows from doing this? This would imply one or both of two things -1- Have the "Date created" not change when something is copied OR -2- Have an extra entry in its properties saying "Original date created" or 'Date copied" or something to that effect.

(One would think that in this day and age of Identity theft, High-tech forgeries and high-tech CSI forensics such a detail would be important)
