How to make your netbook faster like a laptop?

Is that even possible? My netbook is Toshiba NB205 and it's so slow. I don't want to sell it and change it for a laptop. This netbook is very special to me. Please tell me how to make it faster or better.. fastest.

About your question, I don't think you can make it run like a laptop. Yes, you can make it faster by installing only minimal applications.

Netbooks are very limited as to what you can do to improve their performance. There is really only 2 things you can do. The first is to upgrade the RAM to the max of the machine. For many netbooks, the max RAM it can be upgraded to is 2GB or less. The 2nd thing you can do is to change out the hdd for an ssd which will speed up boot and program loading times.

Even if you were to do both of the above modifications, the netbook still wouldn't perform as well as a laptop. You would be better off putting the money toward buying a laptop instead of upgrading your netbook.

That depends heavily on the brand of the netbook. The only two brands of netbooks I had (Acer and Asus) were almost impossible to open up to change out components, even if you had a set of detailed instructions (I destroyed all three of the ones I had just salvaging the HDD from them after they had died). If you paid a computer repair shop to make the modifications, you would pay more in labor alone than a new laptop would cost and still gain only a little in performance.

You would be much better off buying an entry level notebook (a laptop with a 13"-15" screen and has a CD/DVDD drive built in). From the factory, a notebook (often marketed as a laptop) will be faster than the best netbooks. Some brands are easier to open up to upgrade RAM and replace the HDD with a SSD than others are.

I've had excellent luck with 15" Lenovos. While not as light and portable as a netbook, they still are lighter and more portable than larger 17"+ laptops and make netbooks look pathetic performancewise without any modifications. You also usually get more battery life. They are also easy to open up to replace a HDD with a SSD or upgrade the RAM). Lenovo still sells some models of notebooks with Win 7 Pro installed on them.

It seems that the netbook supports a max of 2GB of RAM. How much RAM does yours have?

Go to Crucial.com and run their scanner which will tell you how much you have, how much you can add and will even offer to sell the RAM to you.

Even if you spend the time and money to upgrade your netbook, don't expect a miracle.
