Hello, not sure if this is the appropriate section, so feel free to direct me.

Anyway, I have three accounts on my Win7 Lenovo Ideacentre. 2 Standard, 1 Admin. I started using this PC yesterday after a 4 month hiatus.

unfortunately, I've forgotten the password to my admin account. Thus I am extremely restricted and cannot even install new software.

How should I go about fixing this?

If you do not have a Windows 7 installation DVD, you can download a legal copy with SP1 integrated from here: Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River.
Make sure you get the same version you have, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate and 32 or 64 bit. Note that Basic or Starter is not available.

I recommend using ImgBurn at 4X speed (or the slowest available) to create the DVD from the downloaded .iso file.

You can do this on any computer capable of burning a DVD.

For techies or folks who work on computers: Create Windows 7 Universal ISO With All Editions Selection On Install with ei.cfg Removal Utility.
This will fit on a 6GB flash drive or can be burned to a DVD.

So is it possible to copy the ISO mentioned above to a thumb drive?
And if I use that and follow the How-To-Geek method, will it erase the data on my hard drive?

I'm quite the noob, sorry for that.

Try what I suggested above. Download the .rar file and extract. It comes with .iso file which is the reseter and .iso burner. So, once downloaded and extracted, just open the ISO Burner and load the .iso file.

But I cannot install any ISO burner as I do not have admin right LOL

would you not just unhide the admin account on it in command prompt. Then when that is available use the command prompt to reset that user password :) to un hide open cmd.exe type the following command (net user Administrator /active:yes) Then log off and you should see the administrator account. then when in that account go into cmd.exe type the following command (net user (and the name of the admin account) *) then type in a password to reset it

If you right click on the .iso file, do you see the option to use "Windows Disc Image Burner"? If you don't see the option, check the "Open With" fly out.

Its a portable ISO burner. No need to install, just run the application even you are not administrator. :p

You can't issue the net user command unless you are logged in as an Administrator account or running an Elevated Command Prompt, neither of which he can do.

Get a friend to create the CD/DVD/Flash drive you need. Any Windows computer with a CD/DVD burner can do it.

Do you have access to a Windows install/repair DVD/CD/USB? Boot from that, and use net user :)
Or, use net localgroups to elevate another account to administrative privileges.
