The title of my question was sort of complicated. OK, this is what I want to do. Let's say I am downloaded a file from the internet. I choose the folder I want it to go to. Now, suppose during that same session, I download another file from the same location. BUT, I have to navigate to the previous folder again to put my downloaded file into. How do I get Win 7 to go back to same folder I had opened before?

In Win XP, the same folder would open again w/o any navigation. How do I set up my Win 7 to do this? I hope the question was clear LOL.

To sum up: If I download a picture for example and I put it in "My Projects Folder", I go to put another picture there, I need to automatically go to the folder. As of now, I have to navigate several steps EACH time to get to that folder I had just used seconds ago.

Thank you!

That would depend on what application you are using to download because that is a function of the software not Windows. For me Firefox remember where I last saved a download.

I'm not using a software to download. For example, I went to save a jpg that's on Photobucket. I right clicked and Save Picture As. I navigated to the folder I wanted. I looked at another jpg on Photobucket and right clicked for Save Picture As. I had to navigate all over again to find the folder I needed. In my Win XP, the last folder used reopens again w/o having to find it again.

I took a look at the link you provided...thank you...but wow, wading through all of that was very confusing to me.

I hope I have explained better this time :)

Thanks!

You are using Internet Explorer, correct? That is an application/software.

Ok. So, I guess there is no setting to get my jpgs or my "save picture as" to save to the last folder opened for Win 7?

Too bad. I got so used to Win XP opening the last folder used, I got spoiled. And, I was using Internet Explorer 8. I work with graphics a lot. Often times, I need to download graphics to work with. Often I get them one after the other from the same site. It's a huge slow down to have to navigate to the needed folder each time.

Thanks anyway. I appreciate your answers :):D

Yes, that's possible, but I don't care for Firefox. Now, I tried Chrome and it will go to the last folder opened. However, it doesn't save the graphic as a jpg (the original file is a jpg). It gives the option "save as", but jpg isn't an option when I open my folder. It saves as an HTML because, for example, a jpg I need is on Photobucket and Photobucke's url becomes the file name. LOL. I just don't get that!

Anyway, life goes on :) Thank you!! Have a great week!
