I have a Dell XPS L502x. It have Recovery partition with Windows 7 Factory image. I have upgraded to Windows 8. Dell Datasafe Local Backup doesnt recognise the recovery image. F8 key is not working at boot.
So I decided to remove Recovery partition since i wont need it. I want to get back 20GB from Recovery and add it to 'C:'.
Disk management says it is active system partition. So i couldnt delete it.
Help me delete it.

If you decide to go back to Win7 use the Product Key on the COA sticker to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

To delete the Recovery partition first move the System Active flags to Win8 by Marking 8 Partition Active
then run Automatic Repair - Run in Windows 8 several times if necessary.

Once 8 partition boots itself and holds System Active flags then you can delete Recovery using Partition Wizard bootable CD, then use Partition Wizard to Resize Partition - Video Help.

I would leave the small OEM DIagnostics tools partition which will still run after reinstalls because it uses the F12 Boot menu key to run Dell Diagnostics Utility - How to Run the. Run it now to be sure and test your hardware.

I read your tutorials, greg. They were awesome. Finally, I found that dell's recovery partition is not going to be any use for me. I will reply after performing your instructions.

Suggest me any bootdefrag utility. My windows system files are offset at the end of partition after resizing it with Easeus partition master. I need to bring them to the beggining of partition.

Do your resizing with the recommended app Partition Wizard following the video tutorial I posted, and you won't have to worry about this.

I recommend Puran Defragger for it's boot-time defrag with full Disk Check, that gets at System files that would be running if defrag is done from Windows.
