How to repair corrupted dlls and Registry?

Got a BSOD with STOP error C00021a. Unplugged all peripherals except mouse and KB. Ran an sfc scan, but not all file corruptions could be repaired. Looked at the cbs.log. Three entries keep repeating, but I cannot find the files to replace them with the original ones from the CAB folder on the installation disc.

ps1xml exists in several places in the Registry.
The value is Microsoft.PowerShellXMLData.1. No idea what to do about it.

My knowledge as to what else can be done stops here.

I would appreciate any help.

I would go with a system restore. I think that is may solve your problems. Just make sure that you go back far enough.

Unfortunately that wouldn't work for me. I have had this issue for almost a year now. I can't go back far enough.

I have run a Startup Repair three times. The issue remains. :-(

No. I did everything that needed to be done BEFORE I posted here. If I could find the file and the path I could takedown the corrupted files and replace them with the originals, but a search doesn't find them. All files are unhidden, including system files. Also, don't know what to do about the registry key.

What harddisk model is the system on? Have you checked (if enabled) the self monitoring status? Use S.M.A.R.T. Assistant (free).

I ask because of your two Hash Mismatches and missing file (typically deleted during offline HD error scans). If disks have had high temps over time, incremental read errors or both usually, irradic behavior should be expected.

If that's not the case, it should also be possible to plug it into another W7 computer and try "sfc /offbootdir=x:\ /offwindir=x:\windows /scannow" ... never tried this, but it should be a possibility.

I use CrystalDiskInfo 3.8.0. that uses SMART data. The system disk never goes above 27C. The Cores (LGA 775 Socket T) never go above 42C. I installed 8 fans and adjust speeds via software.

The data for the 1 TB Samsung is good.

I am not overclocking. I have not been able to resolve the pnpui.dll issue since January.

I ran Samsung's HD Utility ESTool 3.01 in DOS (booted on it). I have done swapping of controllers, swapped the drives in and out the box and external enclosure.

There is nothing wrong with the drive, nor with the file organization. Some rogue program corrupted a couple of drivers and nobody seems to know how to fix them.

It's a Windows 7 issue, not hardware.

You mean to say that you have not had an "official" Windows Update bring your OS to its knees?

I regularly use registry cleaners and several antispyware programs (manually and in series). Who knows what one of these well-intentioned guys may have done at some point. :-/

I replaced the two dll files with fresh ones from the install DVD. The errors remain.

No, I have never had an update from WU disable my PC as I don't let it "auto-update" I decide what is added to my system.



The issue is probably with your use of "registry cleaners and several antispyware programs" that's your whole issue right there, stop using them and I can almost guarantee the issues will stop.
