Hello, does anyone know if it's possible (and how) to reset recently open programs from start menu to default settings? When you make a clean install of Windows the first program is "Getting Started", then "Windows Media Center", "Snipping Tools", etc.

If I am not mistaken it's something I need to do in registry.

Thank you for your help!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
It sounds like you have a poblem with the Windows install. I see you are running the Enreprise version of Windows 7? What version was pre installed in your laptop and where did your copy of the Enterprise version come from?

Thank you for welcoming me.

No, I do not have problem with the Windows install. Everything works fine. My Enterprise version is licensed from company I work for. I am just curious if there is a way how to get rid of currently programs in start menu, listed as recently open and get back default programs.

Type "msconfig" in Start search box and then double click msconfig.exe. Then click the Startup tag and disable the programs you do not want at start up.

This is not what I am looking for. This disables programs when I turn my computer on.

Maybe this will explain what I would like to do.

Don't know what you mean by "default" programs?
Try this method.
Delete any unwanted programs from the Start menu by right clicking the program in the start menu and choose. Unpin from Start menu. Then for the programs you do want locate the exe file for the program and right click on it and choose Pin to Start menu.
When the start menu looks how you want it right click the Start button and choose "Properties" there you can uncheck the "Store and display recently opened programs etc" and the next box that includes the Task bar. See if that works.
