How to reset windows without disc?

Hello twist1080, welcome to Seven Forums!

If you have an ISO (Disk Image File) of the Windows 7 version that matches the activation key on the COA sticker attached to the PC by the manufacturer, you could use the method outlined in this first tutorial at the link below.

Clean Install Windows 7 from the Windows 7 Desktop

Here's additional information you may find useful.

After you have copied out or made back-ups of the data you need to save to external media; if you can find an exact Windows version that the PC shipped with you can do a clean install using the activation key on the COA sticker attached to the PC though it may require a robo-call to MS to sort the OEM batch-key.

How to Activate Windows 7 by Phone

If you can't find an exact same version, you could use the info in this tutorial to create an "all versions" installer of any version Windows installation ISO, to install using the same method I posted above.

Windows 7 Universal Installation Disc - Create

After you have made backups of everything you care to save, the best method is to do a complete wipe secure erase of the entire Hard Disk Drive first, it over-writes everything, all the old Windows code including all the old drivers/programs, giving you the best possible space to install Windows to.

The thing is that I dont have an image. I bought my computer a year ago and it had windows 7 installed on it. It also has a key sticker. Now that my computer is all in viruses or maybe working just not the way I want it to work with all the amount of software I have, I want to make a clean reinstall. So I have windows 7 installed, key sticker, but dont have image or reinstallation disk. What should I do?

Hello again.

Forum rules prohibit the posting of download links so I can't do that for you.

You need to find an ISO (Disk Image File) on the internet of the exact same Windows 7 version that is on the PC and use that to do the clean install using the activation key on the sticker on the PC.

twist,
When you find such convenient, please complete your system specs.

Now if you would rather clean up that system rather than perform a fresh install, then you want to start by running MalwareBytes (link in my sig).

UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

and/or SIW to gather info for filling in the blanks.

Do me a favor and add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.
