Hi

I am unable to upgrade to windows 10 because of my system reserved partition. The error message says: "Windows 10 couldn't be installed - We couldn't update the system reserved partition"

The person that was helping me at the windows 10 forums said my system reserved partition's size needed to be increased. I tried using AOMEI partition assistant and minitool partition wizard but both were unable to resize the system reserved partition. It is either grayed out or does not allow me to increase it.

Any help much appreciated

I'd probably use EasyBCD to copy the boot manager from System Reserved to C.

Then delete System Reserved. I don't have it at all. Never had it. You can install Win 7 without it.

All you'd lose would be BitLocker functionality. Do you need it?

I'd be nervous about enlarging System Reserved if the standard good tools don't want to do it. You might try Partition Wizard and see if it will let you do it.

There's an EasyBCD tutorial on this site.

Thanks for replying

- How would you go about deleting system reserved?

- Not sure whether I need bitlocker or not. Never knew it even existed.

Did you use EasyBCD to copy your boot files?

Or not?

What did you do to get it working?

A screen shot of Windows Disk Management might be a good idea.

I did everything as you said. I used easybdc to move everything to c drive. Then I deleted the partition using the partition wizard. Smooth sailing after that.

I didn't stay with win 10 though 'cause one of my drivers was incompatible with win 10.
