How to save & reinstall installed updates/fixes with fresh install?

My windows7 64bit installation is fine the way it is.

I know it is possible to save the installed updates/fixes which are somewhere on my disk in a windows-folder. I read this somewhere. And later reinstall them all together if I need to reinstall windows7 from the original ISO (which does not have the updates). How do I do this can you guys give me a detailed walk-through?

Also, does it matter in which order I reinstall these updates/fixes with a fresh install of windows7? When I got the updates online I think I remember that some updates were installed in a particular order. So maybe this is important.

The order is important. That's why it is better to rely on the automatic update. And also, by the time you reinstall (if ever) some of the old updates may have been superseeded by newer ones. A 'manual intervention' is not worth it and bears a lot of risks.

If you want to avoid having to reinstall from scratch one day, make periodic images (with free Macrium). Then you can always go back to a prior image and avoid the painful update process.

I use a hard disk now. What if I want to install windows7 on a SSD and keep my current updates (no more no less)?

If I let windows updater "update" a fresh installation without installing. can I choose form a list which kb-fixes I want to install? (this should take care of that update-order thing perhaps). I got fixes going back to 2010. And am afraid updater will only let me install a whole SP-package now.
