How to set AutoPlay for external HDD to automatically open folder?
Whenever I insert my external (USB) HDD I get the AutoPlay window and have to click the "Open folder to view files" option to open the HDD. I'm wondering if I can set it so that my computer skips the AutoPlay step entirely and opens the folder immediately. I tried using
this tutorial but when I open the HDD's properties I don't see an AutoPlay tab anywhere, either because I'm on Windows 7 rather than XP or because I'm using an external HDD rather than a flash drive.

The link you provided says it is for XP that may be why it's not working on Windows 7 I do not see the Autoplay tab.
I have used this software
http://blueonionsoftware.com/deskdrive.aspx and it will open the Explorer window when a drive is plugged in.
