Hi.

I have an Edimax EW-7209APg that I want to run as a repeater.

It has as default the IP 192.168.2.1

I connected it directly to a computer, and by aid of ncpa.cpl.
I named the IP of this computer to 192.168.2.2

Then I changed the IP to 192.168.1.10, as the router has IP 192.168.1.1

I used ncpa.cpl again, and gave the computer the IP 192.168.1.2

But now I cannot connect to the Edimax with 192.168.10

Should the IP of the computer be an IP after 192.168.1.10 for instance .11 ?

No. I have a Zyxel router as the primary one.

It's also wireless.

Beside the Edimax I also have a Linksys WRT54GL.
Think you would prefer this one.

Before it has worked as my wireless access point.
You know the trick with connecting from a LAN connector on the main router,
and connect the other end on the Liniksys to one of it's LAN connectors.

A true router set up as a repeater is a stand alone device. Meaning it's not attached to any device at all and using the signal from the original source to relay the signal.

What your referring to is called cascading or daisy chaining routers together to extend the signal for more wireless devices or adding more wired devices. This is a very common practice, even I had this type of setup with two Linksys routers (wired, wireless). The key to this type of setup is to have the DCHP enabled on the primary, disable DCHP on secondary router and change IP 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 and that should do it.
