How to shut down pc remotely

How can I shut down the remote computer after the Remote Desktop connection was made?

I read an article somewhere in the Internet as follows:

"On the computer from which you want to shut down the remote computer, open a command window ("cmd.exe" in the Search box). At the command prompt, type "shutdown /i"to display the Remote Shutdown dialog box. Where it says, "What do you want these computers to do?" select Shut down (or you can select Restart if you want it to restart). Type at least one character in the text box for a comment/reason. Click OK."

When I tried the above, the "OK" in the dialogue was greyed.

What are you using? Try using TeamViewer and you can just simply press the Shut Down button, however you have to manually turn it on - it can not be turned on remotely.

when shutdown dialog opens up you must fill in comment box as well to "un-gray" OK button.
click on browse button to find computers on your network and select one of them.
the remote comp must have enabled remote support under CP>advanced system settings.

your newtwork profile must be home I think.

under Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
right click your adapter>IPv4 and make sure network discovery mapper/responder is on (checked)

if everything vent OK you'll see success message in cmd screen, otherwise you'll see error indicating the error.

Thanks for your response.
Being a user of the TeamViewer, I am aware of that, but wanted to try what the article said.

Yes, I filled in the comment box, and the remote PC's Remote Desktop is enabled. As I indicated in my post, there is no problem accessing and doing whatever I want to do on the remote computer, except turning it down.

your newtwork profile must be home I think.
It is a home network(Homegroup not enabled) which in turn connected to the Internet.

under Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
right click your adapter>IPv4 and make sure network discovery mapper/responder is on (checked)
I assume the above to be network adapter-->Properties-->IPv4-->Properties. But I did not see network discovery mapper/responder. Please clarify how to navigate to network discovery mapper/responder.

Edit: I have just tried it again and found it work.

churin,
OH I'm sorry, that was my typo :D
it's network adapter-->Properties--> Link layer discovery mapper I/O Driver
and network adapter-->Properties--> Link layer discovery responder

anyway, I'm glad you got it work :)
