How to switch off compatibility mode ?

I have somehow switched on compatibility mode, so I no longer have the aero display. ie a minimised program does not show contents when I hover the mouse etc. How do I get it back to normal ???

Right click, properties, compatibility and unselect run in compatibility mode...
