*** How To Test My In-Built Laptop Mic? ***

Drivers seem all fine.

I also need a really good audio-specific site to ask these kinds of questions. I need to troubleshoot,

The built in Windows Sound Recorder (found under Accessories) should allow you to test the mic.
You should also have "Stereo Mix" set as the default recording device.

What other sound questions do you have?

dont have anything else, jsut for the future

the only reason to test was to see if it was mic or application problem

looks like the mic muted somehow..... compltely stumped as to how........ can't think of anything.. google voice doesnt even let you mute the mic at the core level..

Does the mic show up in the Sound Panel, Recording section?

problem is volume of inbuilt mic decrease randomly by itself when using google voice

do not know if it's drivers or what

any link to a step by step guide to try everything to see if the problem is solved?

Sorry to cut in, Firebird, but I think I may see the problem here, judging by Winbroken's responses. I'm assuming this based on Windows Sound Manager treating a built-in laptop microphone like a plug-in microphone (or any stereo lead into the Microphone jack), mind you, but I think to test it, Winbroken, you should set your default recording input device to Microphone In (as opposed to Stereo Mix, which will record the sounds that are going out through your sound card/output, as I understand it), to test your microphone. -Worker.
