How to uninstall an OS on a dualboot machine?

Ok, so I've read the tutorial on how to dual boot Win7 with XP (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.html)
I have Win7 64bit currently installed and need to dual boot with XP 32b. My question is, once I have successfully dual-booted my machine (and did what I need to do), how do I completely uninstall XP? Can I merge the two partitions back into one primary without affecting my Win7? I basically want my machine back the way it was before I dual-booted XP (without formatting and starting over). This possible?

So far we have helped do more than 100+ dual boot extractions here with about 95% success rate. Users want to get out of their dual boot in hours and days, rather than days and months that beta testers took. It is a testament to how good Win7 is.

However, this is the first case I've seen where someone wanted out before they got in!

You're in a better position since it sounds like you'll be installing XP to the second partition. All you should have to do is delete XP partition in Disk Management. Make sure beforehand that the Win7 partition still holds the System Active Boot. Otherwise post a screenshot of the drive map here for us to help you extricate.

You might need to remove the actual dual Boot Menu if it hangs around by deleting XP in the msconfig Boot tab. Sometimes it takes EasyBCD to fully Remove the listing. The new EasyBCD 2.0 beta is fully automated for adding XP to the dual boot after install, as well.

Hehe, yeah I just need a 32bit OS to do a few things, that's all. Thanks for the tips, wish me luck
