Bios

If you are considering updating you MoBo Bios. Your Manual for the mother board will explain it.

Here is another consideration:
Is your board not preforming some function that you use? If the answer is no. You might consider leaving well enough alone. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

+1 on what Hammerhead said above.

Basic rule of thumb: Don't flash the BIOS is you don't really need to. If it goes wrong, you can brick the motherboard, so if there isn't a compelling reason to upgrade it, leave it alone.

Just so you know updating your BIOS is not the same thing as updating a driver. The BIOS is the foundation of your motherboard, without it it won't work. If you screw up the BIOS update you could turn your motherboard into a fancy looking doorstop or paper weight. The BIOS has to be working to update the BIOS. As already mentioned, you should only do it if you absolutely have to.

I agree with everyone else.

What problem are you having that you want to update your bios?

Each manufacturer has different methods to flash the bios.
Some recommend burning to a bootable Cd or USB disc, others have applications that flash from within Windows.

You really need to check your MOBOs manual or Website as already suggested for the proper proceedure and instructions.

Make absolutely sure you have the correct bios. Wrong ones may "brick" the board.AKA it will no longer boot.

Also, read the release notes for the bios. If it doesn't specifically list a fix for a issue you are having, best leave it alone.

To confirm comments made above, this is a quote direct from Gigabyte web site.
Found it looking for your mobo specs, bios details.

Warning:
Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, if you do not encounter problems using the current version of BIOS, it is recommended that you not flash the BIOS. To flash the BIOS, do it with caution. Inadequate BIOS flashing may result in system malfunction.
