Followed Brinks instructions:
Here is what I have. Dell Studio with 4gm ram and two 500gb hard drives.
C:\ Upgraded to Win7 64bit from Vista 64bit Ultimate - works fine
D:\ Installed XP PRO (32bit) as instructed, installed .Net Framework 2.0 as instructed, and ran EasyBCD. Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT -
When booted to XP the system does not recognize the Ethernet controller.
Device Manager shows the following in Yellow.
Realtek PCI GBE Family Controller (Code 39 - driver not installed)
PCI Driver (Code 28 -drivers not installed)
SM BUS Controller (Code 28 -drivers not installed)
Vidio Controller (Code 28 -drivers not installed)
Vidio Controller (VGA Compatable) (Code 28 -drivers not installed)

How can I install / update these drivers while booted to XP PRO without messing up the Win7 system?

Hi KayEee, I had faced the same problem yesterday when I dualbooted and installed Xp over 7.
I have a Compaq Laptop and the manufacturers website doesnt have any drivers for Windows Xp. Even Dell website doesnt have any drivers for your Studio 540 for Xp.
See here: Drivers & Downloads

However, to install all drivers in XP, this is what I did.

As we need 4 basic drivers i.e. Sound, Video, Chipset(SM BUS Controller) and network, first you need to know what's the make and model of these specific hardware. For example, In XP device manager, it just shows a yellow ? mark against Video controller but you need to know what's the name of the device so that you can search for it.

So you need to 1st boot into Windows 7, open device manager and get the name of the drivers. Expand Display Adaptors get the name of Video driver, expand Sound Audio and Game Controller for Audio and so on...

Could you atleast get the names of the drivers so that I can try searching it for you?

D Boot (2 HD's) update drivers in XP w/o messing up W7

Dinesh
If I can get the network running I can probably use 1 or 2 utilities to find most driver updates. Here is info on 2 items (from Win7 device mgr)
Realtek PCI GBE Family Controller
Driver date 5/22/09, V7.3.522.2009
RT64win7.sys; RTNicProp64.dll

Display: Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset
Driver Date 7/3/2009, Ver 8.15.10.1840

How to update drivers in XP w/o messing up W7

To: Dinesh and others
Thanks for your help and suggestions. I finally solved the problem.
I found the Ethernet driver using another computer, downloaded the driver to USB Flash Drive, used the flash drive on the XP system and got the Ethernet services running.

I then used DriverDetective to install all other missing drivers. Both Operating Systems on my dual boot computer are now working fine.
