I wouldn't update drivers just because there are new drivers available, although some people do.

If your PC is working well, enjoy it. If it is not working well, it may have a driver issue.

Drivers are usually best downloaded from the website of the hardware manufacturer--if you need to update them.

Best may be to follow the advise given by Ignatzatsonic and generally leave the drivers alone.

But if it does become necessary then open the Device in Device Manager via Control Panel\All Control Panel Items and clicking on Device Manager and then opening its Property Sheet from the Context Menu that appears on right clicking the Device. In the Property Sheet press the Driver's Tab and then the Update Button and follow the guidance that you get thereafter..

Unless you are experiencing problems, it's best to leave well alone.

However, if you feel you need to update any drivers, have a look at this Microsoft article.

Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly

As for Windows Updates, just set them to automatic and any that are needed will download and install.

Not sure how everyone else feels, but in my experience these Free Driver Update programs that you can download tend to do more harm than good. I've never had a problem with the drivers that Windows has offered me. Apart from the nVidia drivers which seem to be a bit out of date.

I tend to leave the basic drivers alone after installing and getting my system up and running. I usually install the OS and see what is not working right in device manager. From there, I visit the mobo manufacturer website and download what seems reasonable to get rid of any exclamation points in device manager.

The only thing I tend to upgrade on a regular basis is my video card. But even then, I usually only update it when purchasing a new game. So, every 3-4 months I go out to Nvidia's site and get the latest driver for my card.

Aside from that, I tend to leave well enough alone if it is not broken.
