How to use OneNote

Hello.I have had microsoft office 2010 now for some time full licenced one. I manage to conquer the word and excell patr of it okay,But would it be possible for some help with OneNote Please.? What can one do with it and how to navigate the workings of the setup.

Main object is what can I use it for?

OneNote can be used to store various personal items, emails, notes or other items that might not be easily found if stored elsewhere.
Open OneNote & refer to the various options of what you can do with it, then open one of the suggested items & then refer to the "?" help at the RH top of the screen & read the help files.
The best thing it to open it & start experimenting on your own.

think of it as a virtual filofax but it can do so much more, you can send links to it from your browser
you can store images, audio, video , docs, etc

lets say you were decorating the house, you could have a tab for each room,
in each tab you could have color sample images , links to soft furnishings , all the different elements you could put in the one file tab , .
You can have tabs for bills , school stuff, anything really.

another awsome thing one note does is , if you put a picture or snip with text on it then you can put it in onenote, right click the picture and select copy text from image ,
then you can paste it into word or notepad or even paste it into onenote ,the text is then editable.

One Note isn't for everyone. I've fooled around with it some, even had a tutorial to help me, and just couldn't see how it could benefit me. Then there are people who think it's the best thing since indoor plumbing. You will just have to fool around with it to see if it is for you or not.

Yes and I have fooled with them some but didn't like them. They (or jump lists) are ok for links to reduce icons on the task bar or to reduce dependency on the Start Menu but I don't need any more programs quickly accessible than I already have on the task bar (at the time I took the screen shot, I also had three folders opened and resized for a specific task but minimized so I could see the desktop so the taskbar is actually less cluttered than shown) so toolbars or jump lists aren't really needed. I also find them cumbersome to use.

As far as the stuff on the desktop goes, it's there because I need it in my face; otherwise I would forget about it. If I used tool bars, they wouldn't be in my face. I have ADHD and, if something isn't in my face, it's forgotten (one reason why One Note didn't work for me). That's why all the virtual post-it notes. I do have some notes I don't need in my face but I refer to often enough to want the easily accessible. Those are the four at the top of the screen to the left of the calendar and are rolled up to conserve screen real estate. When I need to access the data on them, I just roll them down.

To you, what's on my desktop may appear to be trivial clutter. To me, it's a lifeline to keep my life reasonably organized.

It's a cleaner (pardon the oxymoron) version of a common vulgar expression that refers to the substance that would come from a bull that is often to equate extreme nonsense. Rooty tooty stinky booty refers to the source of something equally vulgar but less substantial. That post it note is where I post phrases or names I need or want to remember (it's due for a clean up soon, pardon the pun). Because of my learning disabilities, it takes considerable repetition before things "stick" in my mind (and, frequently, not even then). Sadly, the only thing I retain well is water.

7 Sticky Notes. Until recently, I was using an ancient version of another sticky note program I had been using for years because it had a slightly smaller screen footprint than 7 Sticky Notes but I wasn't able to backup the notes like I can with 7 Sticky Notes (I have it set to automatically backup notes).
