Hello, here are the specs for an old PC that I'd like to put Windows 7 on. I'm sure I meet all the specs that are required to get it running, but if it's sluggish, it wouldn't be worth it. Has anyone ran 7 on a setup similar to this one with good results?

Athlon XP 2100+ (overclocked to 2.0 ghz)
1 gig of DDR Ram
160 gig IDE HDD
ATI 9600XT card (DirectX 9)

Thanks. I'd be willing to turn off Aero if necessary.

1 GB or ram, not too good. Shut off Aero, as you said. Make sure its 32 bit.
But, I would recommend against it. I would use it the way it is, when the time comes, get a new computer with Windows 7.

I have ran on a windows 7 with pentium core 1.6 with one gig of memory, 80 hdd, and intel graphics.
It is good enough for operation unless you want to do some things like games or video editing. Windows 7 can install on a NETBOOK, there is no reason it shouldn't run at least reasonably well on your computer. Superfetch can improve your system performance over time as well. I found windows 7 much more snappy than xp when there is 1+ memory
Your choice to install or not
Use windows 7 32 bit by the way

7 will run on less than minimum specs with a little tweaking. there's another thread on that subject somewhere, but I can't find it
