Anyone gaming on Windows 8?

Looking on the Windows 8 game forum I don't see a lot of activity there. Just wondering what if there are any issues.

I have a Windows 8 laptop, but with an i7 integrated HD 4000 graphic processor I've not even tried gaming on it.

Anyway depending on how Windows Blue (Windows 8.1) turns out I may upgrade my main rig to 8.

So if anyone's gaming with Windows 8, let us know.

Thanks

So if anyone's gaming with Windows 8, let us know.

Gaming is the same, if not better in Windows 8.

I've been running 8 since release and performance has been good. Honestly, to me - 8 is just like using a slightly tweaked Seven.

BTW did you miss that I already have 8 on my laptop.

I have a Windows 8 laptop, but with an i7 integrated HD 4000 graphic processor I've not even tried gaming on it.

Anyway I like 8, but I'm still pondering whether to put it on my main rig, which is also my gaming rig. Windows 8.1 (Blue) should answer that once it's released.

As far as gaming issues. Sounds like there are none. That's good to hear.

Pretty much the same as windows 7 performance wise, there's practically no difference at all with a very minimal portion of games that might run a tad worse due to comparability issues or games with little to no gain in performance. Used it for about 3 months when it still wasn't the full version and being tested and noticed really no performance differences in terms of gaming. Also read a toms hardware article which shows some benchmarks of different games and says there's practically no difference or very minimal.
Benchmark Results: Battlefield 3 - Windows 8 Versus Windows 7: Game Performance, Benchmarked

For the little I've tested the early betas, there should be little, if any, additional problems to what Win7 already gives. After all, it's the very same kernel, a few minor modifications, a lot of removed features and a flawed shell, but the core is the same.
Most likely all games that ran on 7 will still run on 8, and all those that gave problems should be fixable by the same solution on 8 too.
Windows Blue (or BSOD) seems to be the same kernel too (it's version number is 6.3), so I guess it would not break a significant number of things.

I wouldn't except Microsoft to improve their kernel, Windows Blue is more of Service Pack for Windows 8.

Well I'm not interested in playing the Sims. In fact, the question has nothing to do with my laptop as I'm not really interested in gaming on it. I was just interested in the general gaming aspect of Win 8 on a desktop. Especially if I decide to replace Win 7 with it.

And I basically have no issues with 8, in fact I like it. But.... I need to see what Blues offers before I replace my desktop OS with it.

With that I was just interested in the gaming aspect of it.

Since you have 8 on your laptop, you get to preview blue from what I understand. I would download it, and try it on your desktop to try.

Trust me; I'm definitely getting Blue when it's released. After I play with it for a while, then I'll decide whether to put 8 on the desktop or not.

Here you go...

The first pic is of the games I currently have running well on Windows 8. You'll notice that some are quite old, so compatibility isn't really a problem

The second is of the games I have running in DOS-Box on Windows 8. Yep, a 3.1Ghz quad-core fooled into thinking it's a Pentium 120... :what:

Win 8 actually performs very well as a gaming OS. I must admit I was surprised, as the betas weren't very good at all.

A top little machine that hasn't let me down once since the day I removed it from its packaging over four years ago. It's done everything I could want, and more, all without a single issue. 10/10, Acer!!
Thanks Wenda,

Yeah I'm seeing that there really aren't any differences or issues with gaming under Windows 8 compared to Windows 7.
