I have been searching the web for a solution for a couple of weeks now and all I have found out is that there is no such thing. I believe that the 64bit Vista drivers will work for the 64bit Windows 7. I have tried the 32bit Vista drivers and they dont work. I have tried everything i can think of and the computer just cant find the printer. I am running the 2600n networked through a SMC barricade router. If anybody can help me I would be very thankful.

Hi arf24! Welcome to SevenForums! Are you talking about the HP Colour LaserJet 2600n, HP have release Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 drivers..... Try here:HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer- Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

Those are Windows 7 Drivers.

Thanks,

thanks for the reply. i had tried to install with that when it first came out and i wasnt having any luck. the program is for a PNP setup not for network setup. but i read somewhere that when the program hangs waiting for a PNP connection you just cancel it and it has already installed the drivers. i finally went back and read some in the origianl manual on how to install to windows xp and i came across a page that said to get the correct ip address you need run a config page from the printer. this finally cleared things up for me as i was entering the ip address for my pc connection not the ip for the printer. again thanks for the help.

How to install Windows 7 Driver - Working

Resolution:

Download windows vista driver from:

HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer -  Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

And run in compatibility mode (Vista SP2)

Then download windows 7 plug and play driver from:

HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer -  Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

Run through the setup and allow it to update the existing driver.

Bingo! You can now add the printer using TCI/IP port and works.

I guess you missed the OP's last post. He had the right drivers but was putting in the wrong IP address. He corrected his error and all is working.

Jim,

I read the last post.
Although it is working, I dont see how cancelling an installation half way through can be called a fix.

Bodge springs to mind.

I personally would much rather see 'Installation Completed Successfully' messages when performing this. Especially in a business enviroment.
