Hi I recently did a clean install of windows 7 home premium (64 bit) on my notebook Hp Pavallion Dv6700z CTO. It came from Hp with Vista home premium (64 bit) installed. My processor is an AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile technology TL-60 2.0 GHz (amd lists this as a dual core). It has 2.0 Gb ram w/ 64 bit OS. I am getting an error message which states... Coprocessor-The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). I tried to have windows resolve the issue but it could not locate any drivers.I tried Microsoft support but after almost 2 hours and many driver installs they say they cant find a solution and its Hp's fault for not supplying drivers. I went through Hp they but its my problem because they dont support any OS updates so any help would be apprecited.

Thanks
Kurt

Best not entrust driver selection to W7 LOL, do it manually.

A quick search for coprocessor will reveal all the existing threads and solutions on this same matter you are talking about ;)

Hi Thanks,
I will search the forums for coprocessor. If any one does know where to find the driver for my chipset I would appreciate it since as of this point Hp says they will not produce any drivers for windows seven for my model which is only about 1.5 years old.

Hi Kurt

I suspect you need to upgrade your BIOS. That you get from HP. Its not an OS upgrade but an upgrade to the motherboard.

Welcome to seven forums kvan: Along with Ken's advice a chipset driver update is also a good idea, and has proved to resolve this issue before. And just so you know, if you'll scroll down on this thread you'll find other coprocessor threads and their results and suggestions. Please keep in mind that a bios update is only recommended if the new bios contains solutions to issue you are experiencing. Fabe

The unidentified coprocessor issue afflicts mainly nvidia devices, I had it occur on an Acer Veriton M464 and solved it without touching the BIOS - it proved to be a missing driver for the networking card in my instance.

Hi and thanks everyone for the welcome.
So I did go to Nvidia and found 1 driver update for my graphics card (I knew for sure was an Nvidia card) so I downloaded the driver (under the graphics driver section) and installed it. I also checked at Nvidia (with auto-detect) and found 1 driver for my motherboard which says it is for a sound card. This one I have not yet downloaded as I was not sure for Nvidia was the correct source for my motherboard or if it was ATi it seems like the both made drivers for these.
