HP Desktop Limited USB Ports Question ?

Hello,

Thinking about a new HP Desktop; $ 750 range.

Surprised to see that the new HP Desktops only seem to come with 4 USB Ports now; 2 USB2 and 2 USB3.

My present HP Desktop PC has 6 (might actually be 8; too old now to crawl around the rear and see- but definitely at least 6)

Is 4 the de-facto standard now ?

Lenovo and Dell: in this price range, do they give more ?

If I go with HP again, any problem in just hooking up
those powered Port Extenders ? Reall want, and need, more than four spigots.

Thoughts on would be appreciated.

I suspect that many people use one fewer USB these days: The USB wireless receiver uses one port, rather than the two needed for separate keyboard and mouse plugs.

Anyway, the fix is simple: Get a USB hub. I use a four-port unit. You can get hubs with more if you wish.

You can also buy a USB port expansion card that plugs into a motherboard PCIe slot. That will give you up to four ports, and there is no power adapter needed for a USB hub.

Otherwise, just get a powered USB hub. They're cheap and effective.

Yea a usb hub is good to have around,
Also some monitors have usb connections too,

Actually the usb2 ports are getting fewer because of usb3 being released more and also usb3.1 as well
So if you look at newer cases they will have usb3's on the front now
usb3.0 is supposed to be backwards compatible although some older devices do not like them.
