HP display driver problem

Howdy

I have been working on my friends HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. When I got to it it was running like a slug. He apparently didn't have any antivirus for 2 months. Anyway he didn't have any HP specific disks for it so I reformatted and put on Windows 7, that it had on before. I then I ran Windows updates and then installed antivirus.

Now the laptop seems to be working fine except the display driver is not working properly. The images and font are all big. Kind of like Safe Mode size. Not small and sharp. Tried updating the driver through Device Manager. Windows comes back with the result that all is fine. I wouldn't mind also if there was a way to update all of the drivers although this is not critical.

I tried finding drivers on the HP Australia website in their driver section but I must have been lacking information as it came back with a zero result. I also tried their HP scan funtion but that yeilded zero results also, finding no device?

Right click on the Desktop then select Resolution. Check to see if it's set at 1366 x 768.

Ok thanks. That fixed it. One new problem. He has a Ben Q monitor plugged into the side of the laptop so he has a big screen. That used to work before but there is no life in it now since reformat. It has power to it and is connected via VGA port

If it shows up as a second display in the same Resolution options screen, check to see if it's defined correctly. If it doesn't show up, connect it, power it on then click Detect and see if it shows up then. I don't have any details on a Ben Q monitor but you'll need the resolution settings for it.
