Hi SuperMicroUser,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

You seem to have learnt a lesson the hard way.

One should always buy an optical drive manufactured by real optical drive manufacturers. HP does not manufacture optical drives and so too many other hardware like pen drives. They source it from the real manufacturers and put their logo on it. The support for such leased hardware is always flaky - almost nil.

To tell the truth, I don't really remember if I or someone else bought the thing, tho I never really used it much, just happen to die that day.
My internal drives have been working for yrs, tho I never tried the lightscript they both have, I use them mainly for backing up photos, college homework, etc.

Thanks for the update tho
Hap
