Solved HP G3 255 Downgrade to Windows 7 - Driver Help

Hi All,
come here again for help as you have yet to fail me!
Friend has a HP G3 255
Drivers & Software for HP 255 G3 Notebook PC - HP Support Center.

I removed the secure boot option in windows 8 etc and booted with my Windows 7 64bit USB and installed no problem, but the drivers I downloaded just will not go on, saying "this device may not have installed properly"

I did the chipset driver first as well, and that said the same thing

any tips? what am I doing wrong?

Have you run all rounds of Windows Updates after installing Windows?

well, I couldnt run any updates as there were no LAN or Wireless drivers.
What I did do, bizarrely! is intall the graphics driver first, which installed the ATI Catalyst software.

then I could install the other drivers.. which I know sounds odd, but it worked.
