I have read many of the messages on this board and have not found a solution.

I was having problems with delayed and slow response on all programs. Many programs would state "Not Responding" when I clicked on something but would go ahead and operate after a short pause. I uninstalled all programs in startup to no avail. So I used Autoruns for Windows and stopped all processes and other items I thought I could but must have stopped something vitual. Upon restart I get the following message:

Boot Device Not Found
Please install an operating system on you hard

I have tried most everything on the Recovery console. The system restore shows many restore points and says it has restored. Tried Fixboot and Fixmbr says it worked but still same when I tried to reboot.

When I go into the bios it show floppy drive, cd drive and lan for boot. No Hard drive. Wondering if my BIOS is corrupt and needs to be re-installed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Update

Although the harddrive does not show up under configuration in the BIOS I can run a hard drive self test from the BIOS diagnostics tab and it shows the hard drive as good.
I think I need to re-install the BIOS but I can't find one that I can install to a CD and run it from there. All the ones I have found for this machine need to be run from an operating Windows 7.
