Hey all, good to be back.

My friend owns an HP Pavilion dv6700. He upgraded from vista to Windows 7, and now is having some graphics issues.

From what I have read, the pavilion 6700 has NVidia 8400 GS card, and I downloaded the appropriate drivers, but to no avail.

Then I tried to use Hp's website, which was utterly useless.

Without this driver, it is using a standard VGA driver from windows, which is severely limiting his video capabilities. I mean, he can't even process Aero effects!

So if anyone has any solutions, or can point out something I may have missed, It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Abe

Try this driver: v258.69 Windows 7/Vista 32bit | Desktop / Notebook OEM - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

Or the nvidia official one: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-258.96-whql-driver.html

@thefabe i have installed the HP vista driver without needing to use compat mode and never had any problems with x86 and x64 Win7

@yowanvista i have problems with bsod when using the nvidia drivers from there

this is why i told the thread starter that the two easiest choices are to use the vista HP driver, or just use windows update. (the only difference i have noticed is when i use the vista HP driver i get a WEI of 4.5 and when i use the windows update it drops to 3.4)

EDIT: please refer to my system specs and see i am using the same family laptop with the same graphics card, i have had this laptop for almost 3 years and have tried most options.
