Hello there, my friend has a HP G62 Notebook with a image problem. After the windows logo there is no image, it's like the actual monitor just turned off... He had this problem already 2 months back which i fixed by formatting the pc, reinstalling the graphics card driver (Ati mobility radeon HD 5470) with the CCC (Catalyst Control Center), and it actually fixed the problem, the card was slower than before but it fixed the problem and thats what mattered.
The problem is back again now, and i already tried everything and it just doesnt work. I tried tons of things and i cant fix this issue... Everytime i try to install the drivers with Catalyst it says:
Application Install: install package failure
I already got tons of different errors which i dont remember...
I aready have no idea what to do, even tried upadting the bios, Hope you have some ideas.

When was the last time that laptop was cleaned? If never, dust could be causing the problem, check the intake/outtake fans on the laptop, use compressed air in those.

That is a budget unit so it might be dying/dead, it's from 2010 (read a review on the series from Feb '10) so that doesn't surprise me much, 4 years was a great life for a budget model.

I would pop out the HD, backup all the critical to the user's data at this time. 4+ years is over and above expectations for a typical hard drive, and budget units aren't exactly getting top of the line components.

I would try running Linux via a Live CD/DVD on that laptop and see if it works perfectly or not, it runs entirely from the CD/DVD so it will not interfere with the Windows situation. [distrowatch.com for Linux distros, I use Linux Mint]

*If you already wipe and dropped a fresh Windows OS and even then it acts up, it's highly likely a hardware issue.
