Hi Samuria;

Thanks for your Replying

I was assumed that this may cause my USB mouse not to work.

I usually get notifications from HP Assistant to update the BIOS, and I thought If I successfully Update it may solve other outdated software/drivers on my PC through windows update since I can't afford to purchase these drivers online

regards
Amena

I don't install bios updates. Although they would like for you to, a BIOS update gone wrong can literally brick your computer unless there is a recovery bios chip built-in (which isn't likely). In my opinion you shouldn't do a bios update unless there is something new that you have to have. You search here you will find threads of people that have had those updates go bad and as a result they can't use their computer. That is a very distinct possibility. More than likely it won't cause any issues though. However it isn't like updating windows or your drivers. It can permanently mess up your computer since those are done at the hardware level rather than the OS level.

My suggestion has nothing to do with Windows 7 support. You could be on 10 and I'd give you the exact same advise. I do not recommend or perform bios upgrades because in my opinion they are too risky. Depending upon the level of damage if a bios update goes wrong or is the wrong one you could be looking at the total lose of the computer since that update is at the hardware level. The code on one of the most important chips on your computer is changed. Granted there usually are so called recovery images for those updates however if the BIOS chip is damaged beyond repair the computer can't function at all to read it. Again that depends upon the level of damage and it is the worse case scenario. As I stated before more than likely you won't have any problems but beware that a bios update can cause permanent damage.

From wikipedia:

In computing, BIOS; an acronym for Basic Input/Output System and also known as the System BIOS, ROM BIOS or PC BIOS is firmware used to perform hardware initialization during the booting process, and to provide runtime services for operating systems and programs.

Imagine messing that up. You might not be able to use the computer at all.
