Hey guys,

My HP Pavilion dv6 3132tx has been making a beep and click noise every now and then for quite a while now (4 months +).

The noise is a beep (lasting around 1/2 second) followed by a click (and sometimes it is a beep followed by another beep of a lower tone). It happens when I am logged into windows and there are no beep codes on startup, the speakers are muted too so it's not a background noise or anything. There also does not appear to be any pattern and the beeps occur randomly, whether it be me gaming or browsing the internet.

I have tried checking the hard drive for errors by using the bios hdd checking tool, chkdsk and hdtune. All of those said that the hard drive passed so I have no idea what the problem could be.

Thanks in advance!

It may be hardware errors unfolding. For safety in case it gets worse, 1st of all (if you haven't done so aleady), do some backup'ing by imaging your disk (or as a minimum copy all your personal\important files) to an external media.

If its only 4 months old id clone the hard drive and then send it back for repair or return. The reason you can still hear beeps even when muted is because theyre coming from the motherboards speaker. Which would indicate its something hardware oriented and thus not something you can fix yourself.

Thanks for your replies. I've backed up my important files already and unfortunately, this pc is out of warranty so I wont be able to send it in for repairs. Would you guys happen to know of a way to diagnose which part is causing the errors?

thanks once again!
