Graphics cardNVIDIA GeForce G405 with PureVideo
- 1GB VRAM
It can't even run Skyrim in the lowest setting without loads of lag, yet the game itself recommends medium as the optimum setting - i'm sure my PC fulfills the minimum requirements, too.
I guess what I'm asking is: with the above settings for my com, does a lack of performance on such a low setting make any sense? if it does is there anyway to remedy that?
The optimal setting will be for average PCs, not necessarily one like yours. Firstly, make sure you have the latest DirectX/OpenGL. Unfortunately, you have a very low end graphics card. The recommended Graphics card for Skyrim is Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 4890 1 GB or newer.

which is about the lowest of the low end for a video card. This is one of those that if you want to play games then you're looking at having to get a better video card.

hate to burst your bubble but your card is holding you back. How many watts does your psu have and if your willing to buy a card tell us a budget limit. Also what's your motherboard, so we can know what type of psu is appropriate

I read you can tell the PSU wattage from the model number right? mine is s5780uk so i assume it could be 5780?
I don't know how to find out my motherboard. Do you reckon a new PSU is pretty essential or will just a better videocard compatible with my existing PSU will be good enough? I'm just looking for some of these modern games to run smoothly in settings other than low.
As for budget i don't really want to spend more than 200 on all this ideally. but i'm saying that as an ignorant person not really knowing anything. Thank you for your help and sorry if this information has been sketchy.
