HP printer Assistant Vanished

HP Desktop p6710f running Windows 7 64 bit, using HP Deskjet All In One 1510.

Printer Assistant has
disappeared.

Thank you for taking a look.
Double Clicking HP Printer Assistant give this error:
"Windows cannot find C Program Files HP HP Deskjet 1510 bin HP Deskjet 1510
Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again."

As an aside question: WHY EXACTLY did Microsoft design these popup error boxes to be impossible to swipe and copy? The messages are frequently long and arcane/complex, why is there no copy and paste function within them?????


Reinstalling the printer does not help.
The machine will print, but the
scanner will not work wihout

[1] I know you have done this but try uninstalling the printer using Revo Uninstaller.

Download and run Revo Uninstaller [FREE] from here => Revo Uninstaller. When you run scan for leftover items make sure that you use the Advanced Scan option, then tick everything and delete it.

[2] Have a look in the Start > Control Panel > Printers. Is it set to the correct default printer as sometimes it adds an additional printer entry!

[3] Did you install the basic driver for the All In One or the full package?

If there ever was a CD, it is long lost by now.

yes, this is the default printer.

I do not know the distinction between basic or other packages.

I have never encountered that message before!

[1] Does the All In One software show up in Programs and Features?
[2] Did you install the All In One software to the default location?
[3] Is there a CD in the CD/DVD tray?

Have you gone to the HP site and re-installed all the HP drivers, utilities, and updates for your printer?

Have you looked in C:\Program Files to see if there's a HP folder? If there is, I don't know if it would want a disc but you could try running the DeviceSetup.exe here-

C:\Program Files\HP\HP ENVY 7640 series\Bin Of course, that's for my Envy but should be similar for you.



You might also go to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP ENVY 7640 series\bin (path for my ENVY) and clicking on HP Scan to see what happens.

By the way, to get a screen shot of the message, you could select the Print Screen on your keyboard and then do a paste in Paint. Then, save it to file for uploading here. I don't think the Snipping Tool would work for this.
