Solved HP Recovery Fail's

Hey everyone I got alittle problem. I've replaced my HDD on one of my HP DV6T-3100 laptops and I'm trying to recover my OS to HP factory install but here's where my problem comes into play. It goes through the format process like normal and installing software like normal but soon as it reboots it fail's to complete. It goes to through boot process and goes to the login and the CMD line comes up and it stops and gives me a error that it can't continue. I was wondering if anyone ran into the same problem and can help me figure out how to get this thing complete so I can get rid of this laptop. Thanks

Hi jpolacko,
Personally, I would reformat and reinstall the OS. Sounds as if the files are corrupted.
But here is a tutorial that should help. Windows 7 Installation Failure - Overcome let us know if after reading the tutorial you still are having trouble. Hope this helps.

Are you using a Recovery disk created on the old system (old HDD)?
Are the the same capacity / size?
Do you have the COA key that came with the laptop? (a MS stick with the key code)

This is an official M$ site Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
Download the tool and run it.
Choose the Expert View.
Select Edition = Win 7 Pro SP1 COEM
Download the Iso

Make a DVD (or use Rufus to built a USB flash disk)
Install it using your COA license Key from the HP computer stick.

I'm using the disc's that were ordered through HP support. They are black and white. I do have the COA key but I can't download Windows 7 from Microsoft because its a OEM key and you can only download if you have the retail version of Windows 7. The HDD is the same size and brand that was put in there from HP.

Thanks Megahertz, I just decided to keep the laptop and installed Windows 10 Pro and thinking about running 7 Pro through VM.

In my personal opinion (also from those on this forum), Win 10 is worst than Win 7.

I haven't had many issues with Win 10 as many people had. I just don't do to much. I love the apps and the ability to connect to my Xbox and listen to Groove music.
