I webmaster my own small site and until I switched to Win7 Home Premium 64-bit from XP Home 32-bit, when I used FrontPage (I don't use .css so tend to use FP instead of Exression Web), whatever fonts I assigned to text were honored in all browsers. My main browser is Firefox 3.6 but I understand most people use IE.

--- Firefox shows fonts correctly (my core one is Verdana which is not some exotic font - it comes with Windows).

--- IE9 replaces it with Times New Roman -- which is so 1990s and about 2/3 smaller. And because FrontPage uses IE as preview, it shows up as Times Roman within FP preview--but not in "Design" which shows the correct fonts.

I've checked and rechecked the HTML, there is no New Times Roman anywhere. Below is a test page for those with IE to check out. The only place where I put New Times Roman is in the question at the top as the words "Times New Roman". Yet viewed in IE from my end, it's all in Times New Roman.

Is this only a local issue (Win 7 or IE9 viewed by me ) or some new IE code that ignores certain fonts policy that affects all IE browsers, i.e. do others also see this replacement?

Whatever the case, what can be done to correct this?

Thanks.

I finally figured it out -- FP 2003 doesn't interface with more modern IE browser (only recognizes up to IE5), so my guess it has something to do with that. So I installed Expression Web which is in some way a bit harder to use, but there is no font substitution when edited in it.

So solved.
